The Cape Cod of the Midwest

Updated: May 23

This morning couldn't have had a better start with breakfast Al fresco by a lake our air bnb hostess made Buddha and I feel quite at home as did her dog Valentine.

Today's destination is London via the cape cod of the Midwest. London Ontario that is, to visit CanAm RV to see a Safari Condo camper trailer because there are no show rooms in the Midwest. But as I continued down the east coast of Michigan which is riddled with light houses, I selected Tawas Point as a place to stop and ride my bike and explore.

The point is the result of accretion, the opposite of erosion due to currents of Lake Huron. It truly curves like Cape Code and and it's still growing. At one moment, you think you are at the ocean and then you turn around and there is a birch tree swamp.

Since the "cape" has been growing, the light house is now a mile away from the point. A light was out at the end of the point rather than move the only Victorian style light house on the Great Lakes. I had a four mile bike ride from the park back toward the town of Tawas City I came upon some outdoor instruments which reminded me of the park in Delaware that the Rotary dedicated to my ex husband. He worked on that park and was awarded the Rotary's highest honor only a month before he took his own life.

After a nice interlude at Tawas Point, it was time to get on the road and bust a move across the Canadian border. Originally, I had only planned to go as far as Sarnia, but I decided to go on to London instead so I could sleep in longer!
