Rain rain cyclone coming

Updated: May 23

The heavy rains left lots of water on the roads, so my morning walk yesterday was limited. They are telling me that the flooding is much less than it used to be. Yikes. I was also worried about all the electric lines that seem to hang carelessly and sure

enoug in the paper yesterday there was an article about a man who was electrocuted when he stepped on a steel plate. I'm glad I didn't go out in that weather!

Since I woke up late and I felt like a train wreck, I had breakfast first and then walked. I was able to do that because the rain had ushered in a brief period of low humidity so walking at 11 am was bearable. However by noon, things were back to normal!

There is more rain predicted for the weekend and the possibility of a cyclone, but the reaction here is not the same as a hurricane panic in the US. First, the weather service does not commit to any predictions and the paper mentions a lot about what the bloggers are saying about the weather. My host friends did not say they needed to buy milk and bread.

They did suggest that I alter my plans and leave for the state of Kerala on Sunday and spend a week there. I have an 8:10 flight to Kochi and they will arrange transport to get me to the Spice Village in Thekaddy near a wildlife preserve. The plan is to go on some hikes with the hopes of seeing some wild elephants and a bamboo rafting on a lake there. There are also some killer spa services and restaurants in the resort as well.

I will spend two nights in Allepey where I hope to kayak the backwaters and two nights in Ft Cochin historical area. But more on that later!

I went i to the Paperflite office to work yesterday afternoon for strong Internet. I also enjoy being around people and the office pets Pasta the dog and Mac the cat.

Pasta is sassy and barks at me sometimes. He also thought I would share my pizza with him. As if! They do let him out, and he gets lost sometimes, so they got him an air chip. During one of his breakaways, they found him just across the street after canvassing a 2km perimeter. Apparently, he has an alternative home where he spends time and they call him GPS because of the air tag. There are a couple of other dogs that they don't ring inside, but they feed

Mac is a bit nervous and spends most of his time on a chair in the conference room. He gets more active at night, and he found my backpack to have some quite interesting smells. I imagine Lucy and Ethel will smell him when I get home.

I took most of my calls there and then at 10:30pm Akshaya and I took an Uber "auto" home and I sat in my alternate office, the hotel dining room, for my final call of the day.
