Friday I was greeted with a rainbow just like my first full day. I was finally feeling more comfortable with the scooter and a good thing it turned out.
My goals for the day were to get to an atm for more usd to pay for taxis and ferry to get back the airport in St Kitts, visit the artisan village, and have Indian food for lunch.
The ATM thing didn't start well. It was a sign. The 24 hour one was super slow, and had very few instructions. And no USD. So, next stop was artisan village to buy some local crafts. I just go a few things--very minimal shopping this trip. I preferred picking up a few shells and some feathers.
The folks were really nice there and told me how to get to Rans grocery store where there was an atm that gave out USD. Oops this one was broken. And I navigated a traffic circle with this driving on the left side of the road!!! I regrouped and found two more atms that were not downtown, because I really wanted to avoid Charlestown because from the traffic I could tell it was gonna be packed.
I did not find either of those atms, but I did find myself in downtown Charlestown and as I suspected, it was a hot mess. Traffic everywhere. I told myself just get to the waterfront parking. Just stay cool.
Whew I made it. But no better luck with getting money. I stood in line at a bank and they said I had to use the atm to get ECD and then she would change it. But now this atm is not working. They sent me across the street to another bank. ATM out of service. I walked down to another bank and there was a really long line. I got in line at the atm outside and manages to get two thirds ecd of what I wanted to withdraw. I tried to withdraw more in smaller amounts but nope nothing.
I went back to the other bank to get it exchanged and the line was super long. I was done. I got back on my scooter and took of for Indian food.
This place was highly acclaimed and it did not disappoint. I spent the rest of the day relaxing before going back to L'Escale the French restaurant for a sunset dinner.
